Welcome to the Wicked Old Atheists Einstein@Home team page.

What is Einstein@Home?

From the Einstein@Home home page:

Einstein@home is a program that uses your computer's idle time to search for spinning neutron stars (also called pulsars) using data from the LIGO and GEO gravitational wave detectors. Einstein@home is a World Year of Physics 2005 project supported by the American Physical Society (APS) and by a number of international organizations.

If you'd like to participate in Einstein@Home or if you just want more information, please go here: http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/

According to the Einstein@Home description given on the World Year of Physics 2005 site, by running an Einstein@Home client on your computer, you will help scientists find evidence of gravity waves. For more information about that, please go here: http://www.physics2005.org/events/einsteinathome/.

What's a Wicked Old Atheist?

Everyone knows that atheists are evil, bitter old cranks who never do anything good, right? Right? Well, not exactly but what fun is a stereotype if you can't have a little fun with it?

Wicked Old Atheist, or WOA, is a term first coined by Donald L. Martin in the old HolySmoke echo in FidoNet. When I saw Don using WOA in Holysmoke many years ago, I asked him what it meant. he obligingly explained and added, as was his wont, "Use it in good health". For more about Don, please go here: http://www.secweb.org/bookstore/author.asp?AuthorID=387
